Momentum and productivity are not personality traits
Let's dive into this.
Most of the time, when Summer energy arrives, you think that now that you finally have the energy to conquer the world, it is only fair that you succeed in it.
Now that you have the energy to change your life:
cut your hair
move countries
start new projects
reinvent yourself completely
You feel like all of it should become momentum.
The grand announcement.
The:
"I am back."
Back to the world.
Back to social media.
Back to your family and friends.
And perhaps most importantly:
back to yourself.
You are finally becoming yourself again and naturally, you want everyone to know it.
Every living being on the planet.
Possibly including your cat.
You have been inspired.
Now you want to inspire others.
And as always, I am the kindest person ever for telling you this:
momentum and success are not personality traits.
They are experiences.
They are outcomes.
They are not who you are.
Just as you are not your failures—
you are not your successes either.
And because I am kind, I will explain.
You are more than a metric.
More than:
I achieved this
I failed at that
I won
I lost
Because the moment you start measuring your value through outcomes alone, life becomes a scoreboard.
And scoreboards are exhausting places to live.
Summer energy naturally pushes us toward:
more
bigger
faster
better
More goals.
More projects.
More optimization.
More proof that we are doing well.
And yes—
energy should serve a purpose.
But the purpose is not the outcome.
The purpose is you.
As you live and grow, Summer becomes an opportunity not only to expand your life but to understand who you are becoming.
And that is a very different objective.
Because if all this energy is being used exclusively for:
competition
comparison
validation
showing others that you made it
You may want to pause and ask yourself a difficult question:
"What exactly am I trying to win?"
There is an old saying:
"When you win, you laugh. When you lose, you cry."
Maybe.
But I would argue that life is more than winning and losing.
Life is:
feeling
experiencing
learning
enjoying
connecting
creating
And yes—
sometimes crying too.
Because a meaningful life is not measured only by victories.
It is measured by participation.
By presence.
By being fully alive while it is happening.
Summer energy gives you the ability to do more.
But it also gives you the opportunity to decide why you are doing it.
And that question matters much more than most people realize.
Momentum is not a personality.
Success is not an identity.
They are things that happen while you are busy becoming who you are.
