You already know the Big Sandwich.
Then Spring arrived, put on sunglasses, bought pesto and called it the No-Worry Panini.
Fine. But Summer?
Summer has better things to do than make the exact same sandwich five times.
So this time, we are not batch cooking sandwiches.
We are batch cooking the ingredients around the sandwich.
Prepare a few things in advance:
a protein: turkey, chicken, tofu, or whatever works for you
roasted or grilled vegetables
washed greens
a sauce or spread
herbs
olives, cheese, roasted peppers or whatever gives the whole thing some personality
and bread
But notice that bread is only one part of the system.
Because on Monday, you may want the sandwich. Perfect.
Bread + protein + vegetables + sauce.
Tuesday comes around and suddenly bread is not speaking to you.
Take the same ingredients and throw them into a bowl.
Add potatoes, rice, another grain or more vegetables.
Your sandwich has somehow become a salad.
Wednesday? Put everything in a wrap.
Thursday? Toast it.
Friday? At that point, frankly, use whatever is left and call it lunch.
The point is not to prepare five identical meals and stare at them in the fridge like punishment.
The point is to do the annoying work once — washing, chopping, roasting, cooking — and then let future-you play Lego with the results.
Same ingredients. Different meal. Less work.
And if one day the Big Sandwich becomes a Big Salad?
Nobody is calling the police, you are safe with me.
